November 25, 2015 – Boston Municipal Court Central Division – Larceny Over $250; Uttering False Instrument: Case Dismissed
Charges/Criminal Complaint Counts:
- Larceny by Check, Over $250;
- Uttering False Instrument;
- Receiving Stolen Property
Case Name: Withheld
Members of the Boston Police Department investigated the alleged theft and subsequent fraudulent transactions involving personal checks and an estimated loss valued at $7,640. Surveillance footage from a North End bank showed the defendant, accompanied by a young woman, cashing a series of checks over the course of one week. The Commonwealth alleged that the checks were stolen, and then cashed fraudulently. The victim alleged the checks were stolen from his briefcase, and his signature was forged on the documents, without his authorization to do so.
Criminal Defense Attorney Vincent A. Tofani worked with the Office of the District Attorney for Suffolk County, and negotiated the dismissal of count three of the criminal complaint, which charged the defendant with Receiving Stolen Property. The remaining charges remained for a period of pretrial probation, and were ultimately dismissed.
